We had just barely crawled our way through the wreckage of this nuked site, merely beginning to think about rebuilding the threads, when all of a sudden, IT FUCKING HAPPENS AGAIN. I want the names of the culprits and a shotgun - not necessarily in that order.
i got no fucking idea what happened. All i know is im pretty sure it wasnt me you or redux
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT! LIKE ZED SAID THE CRATER STARTED GROWING SOME GRASS AND THEM BOOM WE GET NUKED AGAIN.
i don't have a solid answer but the site is being aggressively hacked by someone who wants to destroy the forum and is good at destroying PHPBB forums. The problem with phpbb is that in order for the sql server to interact with the php pages, EVERYONE who can log in to the webhost is given the ability to write code to the pages. PHPBB is not really well suited to a shared host with multiple users. It's an old system, and with my particular setup that disables localhost referencing there's no way to do it securely.anyway it's fine, i've been meaning to change the system. PHPBB is shitty, i hate it. There's too much spam, registration is too complicated, maintenance is a pain, everything upon everything is wrong with it.All I can say is focus more on the now. Don't try to create 100 perfect threads that will be permanent forever, try to create ongoing discussions that will vanish when they're over.I'm trying to set up an archive system so if there are really good threads we can kick them over into a special area so they will be permanent.

It wasn't me :(
is there anyone you know of who would want to destroy the site? Like that guy ages ago who pretended to be some ex-military war veteran, and you guys banned him?
>>22Nobody who would figure out who my service provider is, sign up for a monthly account, then also possess the technical proficiency to inject code into a script file and use it to send owner messages to the mysql server.Chances are better it's just a virus. PHPBB requires some severely low security settings in order to function, which makes it incredibly vulnerable to injection scripts. Google recently notified me and said ozort was being used to distribute viruses and the page has been blocked to the search engine.A virus doesn't really need a higher motive, it spreads because it's a virus. If someone directly vandalized it or if the virus just does it automatically doesn't make a difference to me, the problem is that the entire system is insecure.eff it, i hate phpbb, i'm glad they did a total wipe this time rather than just deleting all the posts, it motivated me to sit down and spend 6 hours banging out a better system. notice nearly 12 hours so far and not one single spam message ^_^

What we do now is sit tight around the fire and start telling stories.I have a question first, though - what's the status of the OZORT backup site? I can't remember what the domain name was, so I can't check it out...

>>25If there's an ozort backup site i'm unaware of its existence->>24I think the image board style is as good or better than what we had before. What's important isn't us or our user avatars or our favorite flavor of cake, it's our ideas, and image boards focus on ideas over the users identities.-A few advantages to an image board: you can see recent replies without opening the thread, visitors can get to voicing opinions more quickly which generally brings out more opinions, ideas have to be weighed on the merit of the idea rather than the identity of the speaker, and you can speak out an unpopular opinion without retribution.-Try this out for a while and see how it works, I frankly think it's a cleaner and more spacious system, like an entire message board moved outside from its cramped high shelf tiny room and spread itself out on hundreds of blankets.
>>26I forgot one of the best parts, each thread gets a unique image to represent it on the first post that sort of acts as it's "mascot" which allows you to quickly find a thread you were looking at before, and sort of gives the thread more personality.
I think the name was "delta black op" something, Zero put a link in the chatbox ages ago, but I kind of forgot what it was when I changed mny computer...
